The Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University and Temple University Health System currently seeks qualified candidates for the role of Division Director of General Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences. This is an excellent opportunity to join one of Philadelphia’s leading academic medical centers which is home to more than 1,000 physicians and scientists who share the mission of bringing innovative treatments to patients.

Reporting to the Chair of OB/GYN, the Division Director will be responsible for guiding a growing general OB/GYN service, as well as providing care in general gynecology and obstetrics. The Division Director will oversee the clinical, research and teaching activities of the members of the Division and develop protocols and implement patient safety and quality improvement activities. In addition, the Director will monitor the quality and efficiency of the medical care provided by the Division. The Division Director will monitor outcome metrics that can be compared to national benchmarks.

Assuring that the Division provides excellent care with the best outcomes is a priority. The Division Director will participate in appropriate departmental, medical school, hospital and health system committees, assist the department chair with faculty recruitment and retention, and promote a collegial and satisfying work environment. The Director will also serve as a mentor to junior faculty and be actively involved in the education of OB/GYN residents and medical students. The Division Director is expected to guide and mentor residents on their required clinical research projects.

The Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences employs approximately 30 MDs or MD/PhDs plus supporting administrative, nursing and research staff. There are five clinical divisions including General Obstetrics and Gynecology, Maternal Fetal Medicine, Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (Urogynecology), Reproductive Endocrinology and Gynecologic Oncology. The department supports 25 residents and currently sees patients at Temple University Hospital and at satellite offices at TUH – Episcopal Campus, Elkins Park, TUH – Northeastern Campus, TUH – Jeanes Campus, and in the Roxborough, Center City and Bustleton neighborhoods.

The ideal candidate will possess an M.D., D.O. or foreign equivalent and board certification by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Applicants who qualify for a faculty appointment at the rank of Associate Professor are strongly preferred. Applicants must also be able to obtain a medical license in the Commonwealth of PA prior to their start date. Giving our patients access to some of the world’s most advanced therapies – and helping them achieve outcomes once thought impossible – in the driving force for all our clinical care, research, and medical education.
