Temple Health seeks a collaborative and nationally accomplished academic surgeon to serve as its next Chair and System Chief, Department of Surgery. This is a unique opportunity to advance surgery clinical, educational and research programs across an integrated health system and research-intensive university in the midst of unprecedented momentum.   The Chair of the Department of Surgery directs nearly 50 faculty members and more than 70 professional and support personnel within its nine clinical divisions (Trauma & Surgical Critical Care, Burn, Cardiovascular, Vascular, Plastic & Reconstructive, General Minimally Invasive & Bariatric, Colorectal, Abdominal Organ Transplant, and Surgical Oncology). Outpatient clinical services are provided in 10 unique locations, with over 35,000 visits per year. Surgical volume totals nearly 6,000 cases, and inpatient discharges are approximately 40,000 annually.   Major hospital sites for surgical clinical and educational activities include Temple University Hospital, Temple Hospital Jeanes Campus, and Temple Fox Chase Cancer Center. Department faculty members are Temple Faculty Practice Plan or Fox Chase Medical Group members. The position will be fully supported by an in-house critical care attending and fellow, who will be readily available for consultation as needed.    The successful candidate must be BC/BE in Internal Medicine. They will provide inpatient service, including weekend coverage, from 7 pm to 7 am for a minimum of 23 weeks per year. They will serve as the attending physician, managing admissions and supervising our phenomenal team of advance providers on the uncovered unit and floor service for the Department of Thoracic Medicine and Surgery.
